 Los Angeles police sirens streak in my ear like dogs in heat screaming, random quivers keep my body awake while my eyelids freeze together like the heavy wings of a wet bird, racing thoughts depict memories that sting with happiness but linger of lost love and young lust, epithets and metaphors are rampant with cliche slogans of happiness and greener grass and sins in vegas, the night is late or the morning is incubating behind the cold moon while the geese fly south far and fast for life and birth and love, finally rest is weighted on my chest like a cinder block dropped from the ceiling and cold toes go warm with numb sleep, a new dawn passes like flashes of paparazzi shots popped off in repetition of jealous, cringing, starlet, innocence, sun on sand and sea of glass smells of dried salty seaweed as babies scream along with the police sirens, harmonizing in key like the dolphins clicking just meters away feeding on morning mackerel enlightened and baffled at us gawking to see their very existence...
