As rain falls

as rain falls on fires and nighttime finds the day

the nightbirds and the day birds and the winter play

and as fall drifts like a gust of wind with snow

towards winter solstice and our darkest longest night

the trees hang heavy with wet leaves in cold morning light

as rain falls on fires and my lips fall on your face

the girls sing and dance and the boys fight and play

and as spring awakes like a citrus blossom

towards summer sunsets and our longest day of light

the palms sway easy with a soft breeze in evening sun

as rain falls on fires and your hands fall on my skin

the music swirls around our ears and our eyes play

and as the blue day sky turns to orange haze night

towards the stars and the moon and cosmic love

the dogs sleep quietly in the warmth of the wool rug
