the dilemma lies in the old dirty carpet. we want to hang on to it for all those nights that it kept our feet warm. but they want it all to start new and fresh and clean. so eventually we let go and its gets tossed in a trash bag in the winter snow. then we sweep the floor clean underneath and polish the wood. its shines and smells good and its cold under our feet. then summer finally kicks the door open and we lay on the wood thinking of what it felt like to lay on that dirty carpet in that cold lonely winter and we sigh and we laugh and smile and rest...
